WEBSITE
We were really excited about getting the website live, so here it is (even though there are some tweaks to be made)! We wanted to make sure that we got the framework of the website done for a fresh start to 2011. During the upcoming weeks we will be propagating more pages and information on the site (some are placeholders at the moment). Let us know what you think of the site look, feel and navigation. We are open to ideas and suggestions so please let us know if you think of anything or have any ideas on improving the site.
• The front page of the site will be more of a blog and the rest of the site will be a repository for loom info and to help build the community.
• Under community, there will be a wiki, forum and users blog.
• Under the looms section, you will notice there are more than one tab. Housed there will be the laser cutter plans, information and instructions for both the cardboard loom and backstrap loom.
• The osloom v.1 tab will change once we decide on what we are going to call that model.
• The DIY looms tab hopefully will evolve in the future to include other open source looms. I’d really like to get a repository going of different looms that people can build. To me this is site is not just for the osloom project, but to help spread the word of looms that are open source. I haven’t really thought out of the layout or how the information should be formatted but if you have plans for a loom and want to share them, let’s make it happen!

There will be a contest probably around May (if all is going timely), the 1 year mark for naming of the first loom. Watch for that and start thinking about loom names!

SOFTWARE
Sometime during the next month I will send out a surveymonkey survey to the mailing list to ask for a software function wish-list. I do want to get people’s feedback as to how they plan on interacting and what they think would be cool. We have our own set of ideas but there may be items we can implement that perhaps we hadn’t thought of.

There is much to be thankful for in 2010. We hope you have had an amazing year and wish you an even more extraordinary on next year!

Cheers!
